Harlow Timber Group (HTG) is a leading supplier of high-quality timber products and building materials, renowned for delivering exceptional service.
With a long-standing reputation in the industry, we take pride in our expert team and commitment to excellence.
After becoming Employee Owned, we are now independent, resilient, and sustainably financed.
This model enables us to prioritise employee development, foster a culture of engagement, and recognise individuals who embody our core values.
Today the Group is made up of divisions and companies that encompass: Timber Supply, Engineered Timber and Agricultural Manufacturing (including full service design and install of buildings such as poultry houses and stables).
The Harlow Timber Merchant network supplies timber and associated products to both trade and retail customers from its branches across the Midlands.
Having acquired H&S Timber Systems in 2001 Harlow's timber manufacturing base diversified further; engineered timber products such as roof trusses & engineered joists were added to the Companies portfolio. The businesses growth was considerable and today Harlow Timber Systems (HTS) operates from four sites across the country.
Harlow Timber Group (HTG) also has a Saw Mill & Timber Centre based in the West Midlands (Kidderminster).
HTG has also taken the step of establishing an ecommerce string to its bow that now offers timber and associated products on a national basis through it's digital platform.
The Harlow Timber Group values are something we encourage our employees to incorporate into their working lives.

"I have been working at Harlow's for the past six months, and during this time the entire team has made me feel welcomed and supported and I have enjoyed the positive working environment. It's been a great experience, and I am grateful to be a part of the team.
I am also currently doing an apprenticeship which means I can work and learn at the same time, and has allowed me to practice the new skills I've learnt right away with support from my colleagues"

Employee-owned businesses have existed for many years—John Lewis Partnership was set up in 1929! Modern Employee-Owned Businesses with benefits like up to £3,600 tax-free bonus/dividend were reviewed in 2014.
Several employee-owned businesses have operated for over 30 years, but many more have transitioned since 2014.
These businesses work by transferring majority shareholding (at least 51%) to a trustee company, which safeguards the Employee-Owned Trust’s controlling interest.
Minority shareholders can retain stakes and remain as directors. The trust’s shares are financed by a loan from the existing owners and repaid from trading profits over time.
Trustees govern the business, not by managing it (this remains the management team’s role) but by ensuring the company is well-led to maximise employee engagement and commitment.
Harlow’s offer a range of apprenticeships across the business all varying depending on the sector. We can offer practical apprenticeships in manufacturing and machining through to design apprenticeships and also office functions like Accounts, IT and HR. We can also look at the level of the qualification as well so there are options for continuous development.
